Today the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 was signed into law by President Bush. Despite whatever you might think of the new law, commonly referred to as the bailout, you have to be asking yourself what caused this to begin with? My Dad sent me to a link to the following video, which I believe explains this complicated issue very well. I don't agree with 100% of this--it plays to class warfare somewhat--but it seems to be an accurate picture of the facts surrounding this issue.
Also, here is a New York Times article from 1999 that was a foreshadowing of things to come.
