Dogfights

No, not the Michael Vick kind. I'm referring to the show on the History Channel called Dogfights. It is one of the shows I have recorded on my DVR, really enjoy, but rarely get to watch. Today, when I got home, I caught the last few minutes of an episode that was on live TV as I was doing other things. It was about my favorite fighter plane from World War II, the P-51 Mustang. If you've never seen the show, it is a recount of dogfights from various wars since the beginning of the fighter plane. It combines the storytelling of the actual fighter pilot (if he was alive at the time of the show's filming) with very realistic CGI re-enactments of the actual battle. The part I caught today was impressive, featuring a pilot named Richard Gomez Candelaria, who shot down 4 German 109s in one battle in which he was the lone American fighter pilot. The entire portion of the show which I saw was on YouTube. (Watch the move this guy puts on the first German, the leader.)

This really makes you appreciate what some of these guys did over 60 years ago.
