Why "Alien and Stranger"

I have been reading Charles Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening" as part of my time with God each day. (Actually, I've just been reading the "morning" part.) Today's verse was Ephesians 2:19. It explains that we are no longer strangers and aliens in God's kingdom. This is actually not the verse I based the name of this blog on but it did remind me that I've never explained it.

Instead, I based it on Hebrews 11:13 and 1 Peter 2:11, which explain that we are strangers and aliens on this earth, that it is not our home, that we long for a "better country". If only I could live with this perspective consistently instead of looking for comfort and satisfaction in this world...
