I haven't read all of the details of the case, but it appears that the Supreme Court of the United States has, at least for the most part, rightly interpreted the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Today, the Court decided that Americans could own guns. And I thought that was determined 217 years ago. Oh, well.
The Court also determined that laws that put unreasonable burdens on gun owners, such as trigger locks or having the guns remain disassembled in the home, were unconstitutional.
The scare thing was that this only passed 5 to 4. This highlights how important this year's presidential election is. The next president may appoint up to three justices to the Supreme Court.
What do you think? Are you going to vote?

Um...yes I'm going to vote. I caught the end of Keith Olbermann's show last night. In case you haven't seen it, he has the segment where he names the worst 3 people in the world for the day. Scalia was the worst person in the world yesterday according to Keith. Apparently, Keith's spinning ability supersedes his reading ability. He argued that only state militias had the right to own guns. Since there are no more state militias, no one has the right to own a gun. So Scalia is the worst person in the world for not spinning the 2nd Amendment. Nice try, Keith.
I had to ask. I've hear conservatives say that they aren't because there is not a good choice. While I understand that, there is a pretty drastic difference between the ideologies of our two candidates (though I wish there were even more of a difference) and their likely judicial appointees.
"And I thought that was determined 2017 years ago." Didn't you mean 217 years? Especially considering there was no America and therefore no Americans to bear arms over 2000 years ago. : )
And yes, Preston and I will vote. Like you, though, I wish the choices were better.
Yep. I meant 217 years. I fixed it. Thanks for proofing.
